Definition: “muscles of the uterus (womb) tightening, for anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds.”
Even though experts have different opinions what Braxton Hicks actually does, I like to think it is preparing me for labour. Which mean it is getting closer. Yippee!!
I have started to eat Raspberry leaf (pills) which should help preparing the uterus for labour (or it is a old wife tale) but I only dare to eat a small about at the moment. Maybe they also bring on the BH or maybe that is just in my head.
Do you think that walking is good in the process of preparing for labour and the actual pre-labour? Theoretically I would think that the gravity would do its bit in the end..... (Random thoughts I have when I power walk)
I am really excited about the labour, well more to get to meet my baby. Anyone that knows me and my husband knows that I am a typical blond Swede and my husband is quite dark with very brown eyes and dark hair. I love to see what colour combination the baby gets.
I am actually looking forward to the labour too. It is an experience, challenge and something you hear so much about. – In the middle of the whole thing I am probably going to take that back. My husband is petrified I think.
We had our last scan at 34 weeks last week and all looks good. The placenta is working well and the baby is in the right position. The baby is a bit smaller than average (still good size) which theoretically means a bit smaller when finished but it, of course, depend on time of delivery etc. My OB things it should be about 7lb or 3.1kg. A good size for labour I think.
We had our second antenatal class last Wednesday. We talked all about natural pain relief and different things you can do to have a natural birth. We also spoke about the various pain relief options as in gas, pethidine and epidural. That epidural doesn’t appeal to me at the moment. We’ll see....
This week’s pregnancy embarrassment. I almost succeeded to knock a table over with my big tummy. I forget it was there and when I went to stand up I judged the distance between me and the table as you do. Except now I was a bit bigger in the front. The table was wobbling and so was everything on it including a big bottle of water.
Luckily with my quick reflexes I succeeded to save the bottle before it fell to the ground. I had to excuse myself to everyone around in the restaurant, saying that I wasn’t use to my big tummy. They all thought I was mad as I had a big dress on and just looked, well a larger person I guess. I got all the strange looks.
To come - Picture of my last scan
