Just a normal day

You might wonder what a glamorous mother and house wife, like myself is doing on a daily basis.

Well I thought I'll take you through a normal day.

The alarm clock goes off at 6.30. The idea is that I’ll go up and pump a bottle of milk which Craig can then give to Izzy while I take Louis for a long walk in the morning.

I usually drag myself up at 6.45 or 6.50...get the pump and pump for 20 mins. In the mean time Craig get Izzy and Louis joins us in bed.

Imagine the picture....I am sitting in bed pretending to be a cow, Louis is lying on my legs and yawning loudly to say it is time to go out. Izzy is having a serious discussion with Craig about live’s big issues...of course in her own language.
Usually at this time something starts to stink and it is time to change nappy...Craig timely goes to the toilet and I change the nappy and usually the whole outfit because the poo usually goes everywhere...quite lovely.

If I am lucky I can sneak out with Louis and have a lovely power walk / training session for L. We walk for an hour along the beach, practicing heal and the ‘come’ command. In the end he gets a good treat running free in the park. If we are really lucky we meet a couple of other labs, Uziel and Annika.

Arriving home it is Louis feed time, play time for Izzy and go to work time for Craig.

I usually spend about 30 mins to an hour on the play mat with Izzy, depends on her mood.
Pic 1. Izzy demonstrating her frustration of not being able to role just yet

Izzy goes back to bed at 9.00-11.00. A long time you might think but this is usually the most stressful time because now everything needs to be done that is better done while she is a sleep.
That includes;
Cleaning the floor (every day now when she is actually licking the floor)
Washing – there are tons more washing with two to three outfits for Izzy every day
Other various cleaning tasks
Breakfast for me
Shower and get dressed....I know that seems like a everyday thing for most but not for me any more
Clean bottles / make solid food for feed at 11.00
Pump some more milk (30 mins)
Write blog / pay bills/ emails / call necessary admin people like doctors, vets, banks etc

If I am lucky Izzy sleeps to 11.00 and then we have nappy change, talk time and feeding which alone takes about an hour. She is getting breast milk, solid and then a bottle of formula

At 12.00 I can start contemplating getting out of the house. First we need to walk Louis and then, today, we are buying a birthday present for Aunt Kellie and a Father’s day present for Craig.

This should all preferably be done before 13.00 when Izzy should have her second sleep. But as you can imagine it never happen so she usually sleeps either in the baby bjorn or in the pram.

Sometime we are lucky and get a visit from our friends. Yesterday Aunt Alison and friend Ruby came to visit.

15.00 Is nappy change and food again for Izzy. If the dog walker is coming I might get some lunch if not we take Louis for another long walk, usually with our friends Emma, Oscar and Jett.

16.30 Snack time for me and Izzy if she is grumpy.

17.00 this is the so called witch hour...which mean that Izzy is tired, clingy and grumpy so it is a race to entertain her and keep her happy for one more hour till bath time

Entertaining includes;
• Naked time on the floor in the nursery with lots of toys...best toy being mum
• Singing and dancing
• Trying to drink water from the water cup
• The TV shows Wiggles or Humphrey the bear

17.50 I have had enough and am running the bath and Izzy is usually enjoying a 10 mins bath. If dad is home she jumps in with her and they are having a great time.

18.00 All hell breaks loose because Izzy needs to get dressed. She is a proper Swede and loves being naked and makes a right fuss when she needs to get dressed

18.10 Peacefulness - Izzy is on the boob.

18.45 Izzy has had two boobs and top up formula and is sound a sleep...thank God

Left to do - clean up, making dinner and any other urgent matters, pumping but in front of the telly this time.

22.00 Dream feed

23.00 Bed

It is quite flexible as it is one thing I have learnt as a new mother....routine is necessary but flexibility is a lifesaver.

It is a busy day but it is quite lovely actually. I am trying to squeeze in some work somewhere her but haven’t figured out where yet.

OK, it is 10.20 and I need a shower.....and need to do everything else in an hour. Oh shit she is awake - I am now stressed

See ya!
