Well as my last posting suggest there is not a lot of time when you have a new born....hence my lack of blogging. SORRY! They say it gets better at 3 months...we will see.
I was lying in bed last night and thinking that I really miss sharing my confused thoughts with the world or, well, no one as it might be. But hey if it makes me feel good that’s all that counts.
So where is Isabelle...? She is sleeping!!! We have had a big day today. We have been to the Swedish church for a singing session with lots of other kids. At 7 weeks it is a big thing you know. She got a bit scared when the “bigger” kids all played bear....a very traditional Swedish song for midsummer. Otherwise she liked snoozing and watching in confusion yet curiosity.
At the moment I guess the ‘get together’ is more for me to meet other Swedish girls. It would be nice with some Swedish friends. It would also help keeping my Swedish going and to teach Izzy about Sweden and of course the language. We met some lovely girls and other babies, Freja and Linnea. Lovely Swedish names I think. If I have another girl I love the name Freja.
Isabelle has really grown the last couple of weeks. She is now over 4kg and she is very alert. Last week she started smiling and like any parent can vouch for the first time you see your baby’s face light up in a big smile when you walk in to the room is a absolute heart melting moment and you think the pregnancy, pain of labour, the 10 nappies a day and bad sleep is all worth it...just in one little moment. It was nice.
However, I have two other moments which I think top that. 1. Dancing walls with Isabelle in the evening and sneak in a free sniff of her neck. Wow that must top the list at the moment. 2. The early hour in bed in the morning, she is sleeping below my arm pit (finding the boob off and on), I am dosing off and Louis is warming my back....sometimes licking my other arm pit. Don’t know what the fascination is is with my arm pit...
We have started to go to a mother’s group each week. It is a group of about 8 women with babies in approx same age that get together to share experiences and various experts come to talk. This is organised by the council in Australia for the first 6 weeks and then, if you want, you can continue on your own. It is an excellent initiative and we are having great fun. So far we have had a doctor talking about common illnesses such as colds and flues etc. Last week a lady spoke about playtime for babies. Being a new mother this is really helpful. I am sure I’ll speak a lot more about this later.
Wow she has now been asleep for two hours and I have had time to fold the washing, sweep the floor and send an email to my dad and brother. That normally doesn’t happen.
I will now take 10 mins to relax and watch TV...again nothing that I have been able to take for granted the last 7 weeks.
A lot more later and, oh, I feel really good now.
Welcome to MamaBlog with Stial
This blog simply is about being a mother and the remarkable journey it is in life.
I am sure it will have its peaks and troughs and this blog is to share and hopefully get some real life advice.
