Our Christmas Adventure

I might have a serious problem. We recently got back from a longer holiday in Sweden. I am down loading all the pictures I’ve taken and realise that they are ALL of Isabelle. I totally forgot to take any pictures of my family (unless they were holding Issy). Is that extremely egocentric or what?

I have also realised that I have stopped taking photos of my dog, who before Issy was the photo object. I wonder what will happen if we ever get no.2...?

We went home to Sweden for Christmas this year. Mostly because I wanted my family to meet Issy and show her a white Christmas (I know what you are thinking she didn’t understand or will remember...but OK It was mostly for me that part)

And did we get a white Christmas, coldest winter in I don’t know how many decades.

For Christmas Eve we went to my mum’s ski chalet, which was lovely. There was so much snow, it was white everywhere....mum said it was quite little snow this year but good enough for us. We pulled Issy in a sleigh, sat in front of the open fire place and skied.

One morning the power when out for a good few hours. In the end Craig started to get a bit nervous I think.” It is -20 outside and we don’t have any power, we are going to freeze to death”.....it was funny.

Issy wasn’t so sure of the cold. Most of all she didn’t like the big winter ensemble. Coming from warm weather where she can crawl around in just her undies to a full winter kit where she can’t grab things or move I can understand her frustration.

New Years we spent with my dad and had a lovely New Years Eve. Issy woke up just in time for midnight and got to celebrate with us in astonishment.

Apart from hellish delays on the travel Isabelle was an absolute star. She slept a lot and never really complained. In the end we agreed that she was the one who complaining the least.

However she is now making up for lost sleep and sleeping about 18-19 hours a day. Not too bad when I have a house to sort out and much more.....hence I have the time to write this.

Borta bra men hemma best! (Being away from home is good but being home is the best.....Swedish saying) – do you have a similar one in English?

Now I am happy to be home, love the warm weather and getting back in to a routine. For everyone that travels with babies, I certainly understand that keeping to a routine is virtually impossible. I can also understand the advice not to travel with them for the first 6 months.

Now we are looking to start child care soon and finding work for mummy.......a lot to come!

Lots of pictures to come......just need to sort them first!

P.s I have had the question if one can reply in Swedish - of course you can. In any language you feel comfortable in. However, Swedish, English and Spanish would be the easiest for me. D.s
