Before you are pregnant you are blissfully unaware about the world of prams and the amount of discussions one can actually have about prams. Did anyone else get a small chock of the amount of prams on the market, their different features, prices and most of all the brand issue that come with a pram? I certainly didn’t!
My husband and I started looking for prams very early. I wanted to get a pram early so I could get my 20 month old Labrador puppy, Louis, use to walking next to it without pulling. After visiting 2 larger stores and being pumped with information and different prices we put it on hold. It wasn’t as much fun as we thought. Too confusing.
At first we loved the Stokke. Even though it looked a bit ‘out of this world’ I loved the fact that you could raise the baby seat very high and use it as a child seat at cafés and restaurants. But the price – wow - almost $2000. And you couldn’t have it for as long as most other prams. Loved it but it had to be out.
The other famous prams are of course Mountain Buggy and the Bugaboo. Also very expensive but seemed good and a bit more value for money. These are the two prams which I find sales people try to sell you most. Anyone else agree?
Anyway, we were unenthusiastic to go back and too scared to make a choice. A choice which we come to understand was a very important one.....by talking to everyone.
Time fly and last weekend we realises that it is only 10 weeks to go and we had heard that the waiting period for a pram can be quite long. I panicked! What would you do without a pram?
9 weeks and 2 days to go and we finally made the big decision and bought a pram. We decided on the Bugaboo in the end, a grey and dark blue combination. I liked the features of being able to pull it in the sand and snow on two wheels and that I can have the seat facing me. It also looks good. My husband liked the good resell value it has on Ebay. Booth happy! It helped that they had it in stock so we could bring it home same day. It is now all assembled and is standing proud in the hall, just waiting for a baby. What now? Well I have 9 weeks to practice walking Louis. Don’t laugh I will be the one walking an empty pram and a confused puppy.
Until tomorrow, have fun!
